Picardie-class Cruiser (CG) (France)

Original Date of Design: 14 Mar 2250
First Example Laid Down: 01 Sep 2251
First Example Completed: 16 Nov 2253
Fleets of Service: France, Anzania

The Picardie-class CG is the predecessor of the French Suffren-class cruiser and has been completely replaced in front line service with France. The few members of the class that remain with the Imperial French Navy have been relegated to reserve and training formations. The remaining hulls have scraped or sold off to other nations. Anzania purchased one unit, the Artois, in 2285 along with two Ypres-12 -class frigates. Renamed the Lesotho, the cruiser functions as the flagship of small Anzanian Space Navy. The fleet can typically be found patrolling the French Arm between the two colonies of Lubumbashi (61 Ursae Majoris) and Okavango (Kimanjano). The cruiser has two Ritage-1 missile paks and a small lander magnetically attached to the hull. The main armament was upgraded with Guiscard LL-88 at the time of purchase.

Star Cruiser Ship Status Sheets

CG Picardie Ship Status Sheet - for use with SC-R01 Alternative Component Hit Values

Notes:

  1. Turret arc values are (counter clockwise from left center): 1 bow, 2 starboard bow quarter, 3 starboard broadside, 4 starboard aft quarter, 5 aft, 6 port aft quarter, 7 port broadside, 8 port bow quarter.
  2. Hull Hit Capacity has been determined using the formulas presented by KevinC on the 2300AD Mailing List on 10 Oct 1997, where the standard calculation has been modified by the use of the cube root of the armor level instead of armor level to the first power. Therefore: Hull Hits = Material Volume * (Armor level)^(1/3). This makes more realistic hull hit capacities.

Ypres-12-class Frigate (FF)

Original Date of Design: 19 Dec 2256
First Example Laid Down: 30 May 2257
First Example Completed: 21 Jun 2259
Fleets of Service: France, Anzania, UAR, Mexico

The Ypres-12-class frigate is an official GDW design. It first appeared in Ships of the French Arm on page 14. Anzania purchased two of these French-designed frigates. The Ship Status Sheet for the standard rules is found in Ships of the French Arm, and is not available on this site.

Nevado-class Fighter (FTR) (Argentina)

Original Date of Design: 24 Jun 2270
First Example Laid Down: 20 Mar 2271
First Example Completed: 08 Jul 2272
Fleets of Service: Argentina, Anzania

Constructed in 2272, The Nevado-class fighter is the main space fighter used by Argentina. It is a simple design that uses common commercial and surplus military components in its design. The design was upgraded in 2296 with the replacement of the composite hull with one constructed of advanced composite materials. This allowed the armor level to be drastically increased while maintaining the warp efficiency. (Treat older versions of the Nevado as having an armor level of 2 and a price of MLv13.01). The Nevado is a robust, yet ordinary fighter, with mediocre sensors and armament. While streamlined, the fighter does not carry internal fuel and must be fitted with disposable boosters when launched from planetary surfaces. A single set of boosters allows lift-off from worlds of up to 1.0G; two sets can be attached for worlds with higher gravities. The boosters may remain attached until the fighter needs to return to the planetary surface, at which time they must be detached for streamlining reasons. (With boosters attached, increase the reflective signatures by 1.)

Sensor Package

Notes:

  1. This design came about during the summer of 1991 when I set about preparing to play Invasion scenario 'All or Nothing'. Class names were picked from the Invasion and other sourcebook listings and any similarities in name or design to vessels created by others is purely coincidental.
  2. Reflected signatures increase to 5 when boosters are attached.
  3. Laser weaponry is non-NAM design. Stats are: Type: Quinn Optronics QOL-48, Damage: x1, Targeting: none integral, Price: Lv72,000, Mass/Volume: 2
  4. Hull Hit Capacity has been determined using the formulas presented by KevinC on the 2300AD Mailing List on 10 Oct 1997, where the standard calculation has been modified by the use of the square root of the armor level instead of armor level to the first power. Therefore: Hull Hits = Material Volume * (Armor level)^(1/2). This makes more realistic hull hit capacities.
